Pulp Fiction in Russia

In the beginning of June 2014 six young Swiss theatre directors met with actors from the Perm Academic Theatre in Russia. During a week’s workshop they created short performances and presented them on the last day to a broader public. Miriam Walther and Katharina Cromme showed two different versions of Lukas Barfuss’ piece “The Bus”, Georg Keller delved into Max Frisch’s “Andorra” and Daniela Janjic developed parts of her own text “The Pyramids”. Julien Basler and Virginie Schell adapted Quentin Tarantinos “Pulp Fiction” and created a humorous stage version.

The audience voted for two of the shown pieces to be further developed: “The Bus” by Miriam Walther and “Pulp Fiction” by Virginie Schell and Julien Basler. The two pieces will become part of the Perm Academic Theatre programme. Miriam Walther and Julien Basler will therefore travel again to Perm this September and November to finalize their production. It is the first time that six Swiss artists were able to show their work on the stage of the Perm Theatre. The city of Perm has been proclaimed the Cultural Capital of Russia a couple of years ago.
