November, 2-6. Music project “(r)Evolution”
The multimedia music project “(r)Evolution” is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the October Revolution of 1917.
It is based on the Russian premiere of the Swiss documentary «Red Fritz». The documentary with no sound or subtitles will be shown on the background at the concerts of saxophonist Thomas Mayer and the Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble (MCME).
Thomas Mayer will connect the documentary episodes with the interludes inspired by Arthur Honeggerr’s «Pacific 231». The MCME will play radical music symbolizing the revolutionary ideas of the twentieth century. They perform Dmitry Shostakovich and Sergei Prokofiev as well as Frederic Rzewski, the American socialist composer, with a piece «Les Moutons de Panurge».
