May 30. Swiss Designers Launch Typomania-2020

Educational program of Moscow International Festival Typomania takes place in the format of the online conference.

Presentations of the three Swiss graphic designers including Jonas Voegeli, Daniel Peter, and Dafi Kühne will open the conference on May 30.

Jonas Voegeli, Typomania’s old friend, is among the most popular experts of the festival. He is known for bridging modernist traditions and progressive outlook towards the contemporary practice of graphic design and its production means. Jonas Voegeli has been a multiple awardee of the Swiss Federal Prize for Design; he is the head of the Visual Communication Department in Zurich University of the Arts. At the conference, he will share the experience of his design studio Hubertus Design that develops visual communication solutions for the wide range of industrial sectors.

Daniel Peter is a designer and art director based in Bern. His competences include graphic design, typography, editorial, interaction and web design, and object and exhibition design. At the festival, he will talk about his key projects.

The third member of the Swiss programme is Dafi Kühne. He focuses on the letterpress printing process and experiments with ink and plates. Over the past decade, Dafi salvaged more than 30 ton of redundant letterpress printing equipment that he is now using. His method is a fusion of the letterpress modern techniques with the century-old tradition. At the conference, Dafi will present his process of making typographic posters with redundant analogue printing technology and his vision of technical restrictions as a booster for creativity.
