Swiss choreographer József Trefeli is among very few of those who explore dancer’s uniqueness and rely on the artists individuality when creating their choreography.
In 2019, he went to Ekaterinburg where in collaboration with the Provincial Dances Theatre he staged the performance «Ipseity». In 2021, Russian National Theatre Award Golden Mask chose to nominate it for the «Best Production / Contemporary Dance».
József carefully examined every dancer of the company and gave each of them an opportunity to come up with a piece of their own choreography. Later, he ingeniously connected their solos with crowd scenes leaving space for improvisation. «Ipseity» forms up a dialogue, solves a conflict, and searches for the individuality. The author of the music is Frédérique Jarabo.
«Ipseity» is to take place on March 11 in Ekaterinburg at the Theatre for young spectators and on March 17 in Moscow at Taganka Theatre. More
