April 20 – May 16. Swiss Program at EMA Expo 2021
Moscow Museum of Modern Art and Kotä Records present Experimental Music and Art (EMA) Expo 2021 where eleven artists from Switzerland, Germany, Argentina and Russia explore social agenda through the language of sound, digital and technological art.
Curators of the project will turn educational centre of MMOMA into audio and information space in which visitors become a part of the transformation process of the digital world into the physical one. Art objects of the exhibit – sculptures, digital, sound, and bio installations, are present within the museum space both in real and virtual incarnation. They include «Local Authority» installation by the Swiss duo Aebersold x Handberg, and the work called «Alexiety» featuring the interaction of the voice assistants by !Mediengruppe Bitnik.
Extensive general program supplements the exhibit, serving as a common ground for expert discussions about new media art, alternative and all-institutional initiatives and many other hot topics. The program works in both online and offline formats and includes several discussion panels, specially prepared performative artist talks of the exhibit participants, lectures of art experts and curators, and exhibit tours.
Online meetings and discussions with the participation of Aebersold x Handberg and !Mediengruppe Bitnik, as well as the lecture on «Digital Art and Activism — Intervention Beyond Representations» by Boris Magrini, art historian and curator of the HeK (House of Electronic Arts, Basel) will take place within the event.
