October 2-12. Lucie Tuma — Research Trip to Tashkent

«Walking out of space» is a collaborative research project between Russian art practitioners, authors of the interdisciplinary research platform «Tactics of Out-of-placeness», Anna Pronina, Nikolay Smirnov, Maxim Spivakov and Swiss artist Lucie Tuma.

In October Lucie will travel to Tashkent, where the creators of the platform are based. She will research and develop a conceptual framework for another collaborative project in Central Asia.

Issues of identity, colonialism, imperial legacies, migration and how these issues are reflected in the construction of the local landscape will be in focus of her research trip. Lucie describes her method as geosomatic walking – the exploration of a place through not only a geographical but also a sensory, physical lens.

Lucie will also be presenting her projects to the local arts community, holding an open research walk as well as collaborative research events – readings, workshops.
